Would be lovely to catch this, I'll have to see if it would work out all the way from Finland... I kind of find Mansfield Park the most interesting of Austen's books, even though the characters are mostly infuriating x) And of course I would love to hear Cumberbatch's voice, and btw so would my mum – it only took her ONE episode of Sherlock to make her one of the most enthusiastic Cumberbatch fans in existence...

It's not something that I've looked into myself but I'm fairly certain that you should be listen to it on BBC iPlayer. Technically only people from the UK can access it but I know there are ways of getting around it. Some of my American blogger friends were able to watch Sherlock S3 almost as soon as it aired so it must be possible.

Mansfield Park is easily my least favourite Austen novel. I like it but I don't love it. The secondary characters ARE infuriating and I want to scream at how everyone mistreats Fanny. And I always feel sad that Fanny ends up with Edmund because he really didn't deserve her. I'm still really excited about this radio play though and if Benedict cant't make me like Edmund then nobody can.

Wow, your mum sounds cool! I got my mum to watch Sherlock and she enjoyed it but she wasn't as into it as I was.

I know I've mentioned this to you before but you NEED to listen to Cabin Pressure & Neverwhere at some point :D

Wow. MP is my least-fave Austen novel, and I'm just not a fan of Edmund at all, but... with Benedict voicing him, that could change! I wonder if they'll offer this for sale on mp3 or CD or anything, after it's aired?

I seem to be the only one who finds Mansfield Park interesting... and also the only one who finds Fanny herself VERY annoying! :D How I can like a book so much where I dislike most of the characters, I can't possibly explain!

Fanny annoys me too, Mizzie! That's why I just don't like MP -- I don't really like any of the characters.

Mizzie - You're not alone. A lot of people don't like Fanny but I've always felt sorry for her. Yes she might come across as being passive and insipid but then these are very realistic flaws for a girl who was taken away from her family at a young age and was then bullied and treated like a slave by her relatives to the point where she feels almost worthless. She never sees her family either and most of them don't give a damn about her anyway. I can understand readers wanting Fanny to be more witty and self-confident like Austen's other heroines but really, what can we expect?

Hamlette - I reckon the chances of a CD are probably very high! :) It makes a lot of financial sense after all. Benedict and David are far more famous now than they were back in 2003 and Felicity Jones just starred in a big blockbuster (Amazing Spiderman 2) so her fame is on the rise. I imagine a lot of people would want to listen to this recording.
